Ear Wax Removal
Excessive or impacted ear wax can cause discomfort and hearing loss. It can also interfere with the normal operation of hearing aids. Traditional methods of removal, such as syringing, may sometimes be effective but carry inconvenience, such as administering oil for several weeks before treatment; and risks, such as damage to the ear drum and/or ear pain.
Microsuction is different because it is usually a ‘same day’ treatment. The ear wax and the ear canal remain in clear vision for the practitioner throughout the procedure and this improves the efficiency of the clearance as well as significantly reducing risk. Most microsuction treatments are 100% successful at the first time of asking and microsuction is considered the gold standard techniques for ear wax removal.
Microsuction is commonly used to remove ear wax and foreign bodies by the majority of Ear, Nose and Throat Outpatient Clinics and djB hearing ltd can offer this treatment quickly, without GP referral, either at our clinic or in the comfort of your own home.
Hearing tests (audiogram)
A range of hearing assessments are available. Full diagnostic hearing assessment includes hearing function testing (audiometry) and assessment of the ear drum and middle ear (tympanometry). The results are given on the day along with professional advice drawing on many years of audiology experience. We can also offer hearing surveillance/screening, for those exposed to noise levels within the Health and Safety Executives (HSE) range of concern. Any of these tests can be provided as a one-off assessment or as part of a regular hearing and ear health review.
Most hearing assessments are obtained by the use of headphones delivering pure-tone sounds to the ear and allowing the Audiologist to measure the quietest sound (or threshold of hearing) that a person demonstrates. The test rarely takes more than 20-30 minutes. Results will be fully explained and, if requested, a written report containing results, advice and any recommendations can be provided.
